DOG UNIT CONSISTENT EFFORT

At its commencement, Dog Unit’sConsistent Effort is groovy, breezy, tasteful and smart. The song is spacious and doesn’t rush, rather it grows organically throughout its nearly 6 minute runtime. The intensity rises when it is time to rise, and boy does it rise, in the final third the band really starts cooking with gas. Guitars go from clean to dirty, drums go from light patter to hard smash and, if you have any soul at all, you shall find yourself pulling the ‘oh damn, that's hard as f**k’ face. We certainly did. ‘Consistent Effort’ is the second single from Dog Unit’s upcoming debut album At Home out April 5 via Brace Yourself Records. The band describe the track as “sort of microcosm of the whole album in one track: a certain neatness and pop feel, but also some of the heaviest playing anywhere on the record too." Tickets are already sold out for their headline at the Lexington April 18th, but those who wish to experience Dog Unit live can catch them with 86TVs and Prima Queen for the 25th-anniversary edition of John Kennedy's X-Posure Live at Omeara on April 28th. -Adam Brown
